About Lyman's Amish Furniture & Farm Store
Lymans Farm Store, a family owned business started in 1998 was originally called West Lynn Farm Store. Tom worked for West Lynn Creamery in their farm store in Winslow Maine for a number of years. When West Lynn decided to close the store in 1998 Tom and Joy purchased the store.
In 2003 the business was moved to a new location in the town of Fairfield Maine and the name was changed to Lymans Farm Store. Many changes have taken place since the beginning.
Our main customer base is still the farmer who makes his or her living from the farm. We also serve the needs of the back yard and hobby farmer.
The first major addition included Nutrena bagged feed and Pine shavings, which helped attract equine customers. The fencing department was also expanded to include Gallagher fence products, poultry netting, field fence, and electric sheep and goat netting. We also carry galvanized fence wire, poly wire, poly tape, and rope. Tom also repairs fence chargers. The Tarter Gate line was also added, which includes gates, corral panels, wire panels, and hay feeders, and feed bunks.
We have also expanded our lawn and garden department, we now carry Pro Mix, peat moss, bark mulch, manure, compost, fertilizer, lime, potting soil, grass seed, vegetable & flower seedlings, hanging baskets.
In our new building we have a growing hardware department including, plumbing, electrical, paint and paint supplies, Hillman fasteners as well as Stanley Hardware.
The pet department has also seen a big expansion including Dog kennels and indoor crates, pet carriers, Lupine collars and leashes, grooming supplies, Frontline for dogs and cats, pet beds, numerous foods and snacks, and a wide variety of toys.
Another big addition are the books, we have huge selection of books from Storeys and other publishers . The books cover a range of topics from all about any farm animal to farming in general. How to build buildings, lawn and garden care, plant care, cheese making, canning and preserving food, cook books, just to name a few.
We have gifts for any occasion. Some are farm related, some are not.
In December 2009 we received our first delivery of Amish furniture just before Christmas. It was a big hit we had rockers, gliders and swivel gliders. March 2010 our second load arrived. This time we added some rustic hickory furniture as well as more rockers, gliders, and coffee tables, end tables, benches and more. We are also able to special order dinning room furniture and soon Bedroom furniture.
